Exploring Cricut - Disney Dreaming

Image
Welcome to another fun challenge at Exploring Cricut!  This time we are
Disney Dreaming
So show us your projects that are Disney inspired!
For me, Disney means that magical mouse, Mickey!  And this little side step card will go to a man who LOVES Disney!

Side Step cards are super cute and fun to make! Beate Johns has an excellent tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers you will find HERE. Once you create the base, you can measure each section and customize it with matting and DP. It's the same premise as covering any card base. Just measure and make each layer slightly smaller than the last. For this project a small paper trimmer works well. (A guillotine cutter will not work...)

TSTR124 ~ Patriot in Pink ~

Normally when I create a patriotic card I pull out red, white and blue.  This time I decided to go with a decidedly more "feminine" feel.  I love this quote by Abraham Lincoln.  It speaks volumes about the huge responsibilities any freedom loving nation has and in particular it's leaders.
Freedom isn't always easy to maintain.  Abraham Lincoln is a prime example of someone who gave so much of himself trying to keep our torn and battered country together.  Photos of him later in his presidency reveal a tired and worn man, one bearing a crushing load of responsibility.  It is important as Christians that we pray for our leaders.  We may not always agree with them but it is our responsibility to pray for them.
So take a few moments today to praise God for all of your blessings and for my friends in America, offer a pray for our great nation and her leaders.  With God, all things are possible!  Blessings...

So glad you could join me for a bit of creativity today!  Life has been crazy as of late and my crafting has suffered the brunt!  So when Stampin' Sisters in Christ posted a Clean and Simple challenge I jumped in!  After all, clean and simple is exactly what you need when you barely have time to put ink to paper.  No frills here...

This card measures 4.25 x 5.5 inches and has a white base. For a bit of pop, I selected a DP from Basic Grey's PB & J Paper pad. I created the sentiment panel out of white card stock scored at 1/4 and 1/2 inch intervals on two sides. I selected Our Daily Bread Designs' Little Things stamp set for my sentiment (stamped in black ink). I placed a lovely butterfly adhesive charm for interest. Thanks for stopping by! Don't forget to stop by and check out the big Dog Days of Summer sale at Our Daily Bread Designs! What better way to beat the heat than to stay inside and keep cool while stamping away! Gosh, do we have a SUPER SALE all se…

Thanks so much for stopping by today! It seems like we haven't had a chance to catch up in quite a while!
This weekend I plan on allotting some sorely needed attention and time to my household chores. The following weekend I will be spending some time with Our Daily Bread Designs at the Stampaway USA Convention in Sharonville, Ohio. If you are in the area August 3rd or 4th stop by and say hello! You can get all the details HERE. I am looking forward to meeting up with the lovely ladies from ODBD!  And I hope to see many of my tri-state stamping buddies there as well!
Speaking of carving out some time to catch up... I managed to find some time Monday to create a card for the few sites including the Mojo challenge. Here is the sketch...

And my interpretation...

I selected a soft beige card stock for my 4.5 x 5.5 card base. Below the red polka dot paper I added a layer of distressed black card stock. All of my remaining DP layers have the same black card stock matting. Each pane…

C4C146, CSC100 & OCCC ~ The One Who Sowed

Happy Monday morning to you!  Hope you had a wonderful and blessed weekend!  I had the opportunity to spend some quality time with my hubby on Friday.  We did a little craft supply shopping (insert big smile here) and dined out.  It seems with my work schedule we have very little time to spend together.  It is precious times like Friday that I rediscover just how blessed I am!  And with the events in Colorado Friday, I realized what a gift I had to spend another day with the ones I love.
Each and every blessing I have is because of my Lord and Savior.  It is through His goodness that we are redeemed.  This beautiful verse featured on Our Daily Bread Designs'The Good Seed set came to mind...

Today's card is a actually a makeover of one of the very first cards I posted several years back.

I liked the overall layout of the card but my style has changed a little in the last few years. I find myself using more embellies like the hand crafted rose and pearl flourish. Plus I use a…

MOJO250, WAW37 & SSIC147 ~ Christmas Joy

Image
Praise be to our Lord who always provides! A few weeks ago, I shared how hot and DRY it was here in my beloved Bluegrass state. As of Thursday, we had over 6 inches of rain! WOW! Definitely answered prayers! Our lawn has rebounded and today dear hubs will mow the lovely crop of weeds AND grass that has sprung up seemingly overnight. I am so very grateful for continual provisions!
I created today's card for a few challenges including the weekly Mojo Monday challenge, Stampin' Sisters in Christ plus their sister site, Word Art Wednesday.
Here is this week's Mojo sketch...

And my take... ANOTHER Christmas card!!! My stash is growing! ;-)

I found the coordinating DP at Hobby Lobby. I love it! The base is cream card stock (5.5 x 4.25 inches) with embossed black card stock matting. I stamped the sentiment (Our Daily Bread Designs' Christmas Blessings) with black ink on the same cream CS before cutting/embossing with a Spellbinder Die. The bottom layer of DP…

Exploring Cricut Daily Project

Image
Welcome! Hard to believe that July is half way over! The kids will be back in school and those warm summer days will fade before we know it. For today's project I wanted to capture a bit of that summer feeling all year long. So I am sharing a framed wall hanging for Exploring Cricut.

I love the look of bright red geraniums in the summer. In fact I have a painting of them hanging in my master bedroom. So I thought I would start on a fun project to add a little "zip" to my scrapbook room. I purchased a black frame and 5 x 7 black mat at my local Dollar Store... for a total of $2.00 invested... plus scraps already in my stash...

I removed the glass and cut a piece of left over gingham DP (by Karen Foster) to fit the frame back. I then nestled my matting in the open frame and replaced the covered backing. My Cricut cuts are from a sorely neglected cartridge of mine, Freshly Picked. I bet I can count the number of times I have used this cartridge on one hand.  Som…

What do you do when you have scraps taking over your work area?  You make something with them!  I just can't bear to throw anything away so when Splitcoast came up with a sketch challenge last week...  I pulled out some recent additions to the pile and went to work.

Here's my take...

FS284 & SSIC148 ~ Christmas Snow ~

Image
This week I have been in a Christmas mood. And even though the halls aren't decked and the tinsel isn't strung, I've belted out a few Christmas songs! Is that crazy??? It seems like July 4th is my Christmas trigger. Immediately, I start to plot and plan what my cards will look like that year. And fortunately, this year I have already put some of those ideas into motion!

I created today's card for a couple of challenges.  The first to honor this week's Featured Stamper at Splitcoast, Cynthia Olheiser. If you haven't had a chance to admire her work check out her SC gallery. I added some bling (in this case Stickles) to my card to enter the Stampin' Sisters in Christ weekly challenge. This week the challenge is to create something with sparkle.

So here's my creation...

The top layer is embossed with Cuttlebug's Distressed Snow folder. My snowflake is a die cut heavily coated with Stickles. Every snowflake needs a little flourish and this …

A Little Distressed Tea Cup

Image
I've discovered distress paint!  I find myself slathering it on EVERYTHING!  If the Saints hold still long enough...  JUST KIDDING!!!!

So when I decided to color this tea cup image I HAD to put Ranger's Distress Paint in Hard Rock Candy all over it!  I love how it crackles and makes the cup look like old china!  To do this, I stamped my image first, colored it with Copics and slathered it with paint.  You need a THICK coat for it to crackle properly.  AFTER curing, I cut it with Spellbinders' Nested Tea Cup die.  Super easy!  For this project, I used a real Wilton doily along with DP by Teresa Collins.  Whatcha think???

A blossom from my stash and some paper punched leaves finish it off! Thanks for looking! Until next time...
Blessings...

F4A123 ~ It's All About Scraps ~

Image
If you're like me, there is a stack of scraps on your crafting table.  Ok, in the interest of full disclosure, my scrap is more like a MOUNTAIN!  I have great intentions, yet I fall quickly for the next cute paper and my scraps lanquish in a pile.  So when Splitcoast posted a scraps challenge last Friday, a cheer rose up from my scrap table.  (I'm sure if my scraps could cheer, they would!)  And with the latest craze involving hexagons, I managed to find my old Creative Memories punch and go to work.

It just so happened I had completed a project with Bo Bunny's Weekend Market Collection. So I was able to use the coordinating pieces to paper punch and arrange a fun design on the front of kraft card stock. I used dimensional foam to pop each hexagon up. I selected Our Daily Bread Designs' Anchor set for my sentiment and stamped it on the base with Versafine ink. Super easy! Now I just need to visit that scrap pile again... :-) Thanks so much and have a wonderful d…

JUGS144 ~ Serve ~

Image
Good morning! Hope all is well with you and yours! Today I am sharing a recent sketch from Just Us Girls.

And my interpretation...

The designer paper (from K & Company's Susan Winget's Meadow) drove the color scheme. I wanted to keep the feel of Rudbeckia so I chose a rich yellow and deep brown for the matting and base respectively. I selected Our Daily Bread Designs' Serve the Lord set for my sentiment and a Cheery Lynn Designs die for embellishment. The embellie is not Rudbeckia but a sunflower.  But I decided to keep it for the cheery look! A very simple project to complete! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for stopping by to visit! Today's card is for the Mojo Monday Sketch challenge.

And my take on it...

I picked this paper pack up recently at Michaels. We had chickens on our farm when I was a child so this paper immediately grabbed my eye. I combined it with a deep red card stock, kraft paper and black to come up with a French Country feel. I even added a tiny bit of burlap to remind me of those old chicken feed sacks... Thanks for looking and until next time...
Blessings...

FS282 ~ Enter His Gates ~

Image
Ahhhh... A week of vacation!  There is nothing quite like it! Time to relax, reflect and clean the dust bunnies out from under the couch! OK, I guess that takes relaxation out of the picture, right? :-) So with a little R & R in mind I took to my craft table. Where else can a stamper, papercrafter get a little rest and relaxation, right?

I'm sharing a project I created for Splitcoast's Featured Stamper Challenge.

I used gray card stock scored at 1/2 inch intervals to mimic siding. The die (my new item) is by Memory Box. I cut two strips of tan card stock and dry embossed them with a brick embossing folder to create steps. I also added just a touch of distress ink to the edges with a sponge for definition. The flower pot is a black circle punch that I cut on opposite sides to make my pot. I added some paper punched leaves and tiny hydrangea punched blossoms which I molded lightly with a stylus. A bit of glue in the center along with some tiny gold microbeads f…

CSC98 & F4A124 ~ In A Wood

Image
I love this quote by Robert Frost.  When my dear CT member, Rosemary Dennis, selected this quote for this year's 4th Anniversary release at Our Daily Bread Designs, I cheered!  It is perfect for so many occasions.  And this week's challenge at Splitcoast's Free For All was to creatively incorporate wood in your creation.  I immediate pulled this quote our with the tiny grove of trees!  It reminds me of the Upper Peninsula, one of my all time favorite places to visit!  This week I am also playing along with the Case Study Challenge.

Here's the card...

My card base measures 6 x 6 inches. For the image, I used sticky notes to mask off a square area on my white card stock measuring 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches. I then used Memento's London Fog ink for my first layer of color, Ranger's Distress Ink in Tumbled Glass for my second layer and finished the edges with Black Soot (also by Ranger). When my base dried I stamped the sentiment on with Versafine Black Onyx ink. A…

WT382 ~ Silver Bells

Image
Thanks for stopping by. If you are looking for today's Exploring Cricut post please click HERE.
Wow!  Is it ever hot today!  Temps in my part of the state are projected to hit 104 degrees!  With the heat index it could feel like 110 degrees plus!  With temps being this warm, the Saints are spending a great deal of time in our nice cool air conditioned garage with plenty of water and a circulating fan.  I bet they think life is RUFF!!  Sorry, couldn't resist!
So to keep my mind cool, I have turned to creating Christmas cards.  Here's one I put together today for Splitcoast's Ways to Use It Challenge.  The challenge...  to use tissue paper.  I grabbed some silver dotted  tissue paper and applied it to a white card stock base I ran through my Xyron.  When smoothed down, it takes on the look of linen.  I opted to emboss my sentiment this time (from Our Daily Bread Designs' Christmas Blessings) with silver powder.  All the matting is silver card stock as well.  The …

Exploring Cricut Daily Post

Image
Welcome!  So glad you could stop by and visit for a spell.  Hoping that everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July!  If your family is anything like mine there was plenty of sun, food and fellowship!

Today I am sharing a card for Exploring Cricut.  And what is more country than a county fair?  Here is my neck of the woods each county has their own fair.  Locally we have one of the oldest county fairs in the state of Kentucky.  It is know as the "Old Reliable" Germantown Fair.  It has been in existence since 1854!  I'm not sure they had funnel cakes then but I'm sure they had great treats too!
So in celebration of the pride of rural America, the county fair, I pulled out my Cricut County Fair cartridge and went to work.

I have to admit I am slightly disturbed by one thing on this card. I was raised on a dairy farm with Holsteins and cows do not have horns! But for some reason on this cartridge she did! City slickers!!!! Product development at Provocraft needs to pay…

Welcome back! So glad you took a few moments out of your busy day to stop by! This post features a card I created for a Splitcoast sketch challenge. Here's the sketch...

The doily is actually a Cheery Lynn Die cut that I cut in half and attached to the focal panel. Sometimes, things just don't fit right and you have to make adjustments. I wish blue jeans worked that way! lol... The image by Our Daily Bread Designs may be found in the Thank You Sentiments set. I colored it with Copics and added some Meadow Flower Soft for texture. JUGS143, WAW35 & IBSIC15 ~ You Are Not Forgotten

Image
I am so thankful to have a few days of vacation! Remember how I waxed eloquent about dust bunnies earlier in the week? Yep, they are still with me! I believe the dust bunnies are safe! But my blog isn't! I popped in to share another card I created with our nation's birthday in mind. So many people over the years have contributed to our freedom going back to the Revolutionary War. It is important to remember those who sacrificed here at home and on foreign battlefields. Many gave their lives to preserve, protect and defend the freedoms we enjoy. Today's card is for a very special Gold Star Mother. Please, today before you enjoy good food, fun and fellowship, please say a prayer... a prayer for those in harm's way! God bless you and GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!

Today's project is a 4 x 6 card. I cut 1/2 inch red card stock strips and overlapped them to resemble siding. After placing my door die (white card stock)in the center I used a brick embossing folder (a…
